Making Vanguard More Beautiful, Secure and Known
This campaign has ended, but you can still make a gift, here.
When Vanguard University moved to Orange County in 1950, the campus had very few neighbors and was easy to find. As the surrounding area developed, Vanguard's campus became harder to find.
- At over 10 feet tall and over 50 feet long, the Vanguard University monument sign will be visible from Fair Drive and Newport Blvd., effectively becoming a permanent landmark for the University.
- The monument sign also will impress Costa Mesa residents visiting City Hall, as well as the more than one million local, national and international fair attendees, exhibitors, concert goers, music artists, conventioneers and more who visit the OC Fair & Event Center each year.
- New fencing and landscaping – featuring approximately 1,430 linear feet of pilaster and wrought iron security/perimeter fencing, 1,600 linear feet of landscape area, 21 new accent trees and new irrigation and lighting – will flank the monument sign, beautifying and securing the campus perimeter.
- The new fence will effectively reduce entrance from secondary driveways and pathways, making campus entrance easier and more intuitive. In its current form, the campus is accessible via multiple entrances along both main streets and visitors may have a challenging time finding the front entrance at the Scott Academic Center.
